First Week Movies
The children in Superb 7 learn many skills while creating the First Week Movies for every new entrant that has the pleasure of coming to our school. It was a wonderful surprise to get a personal thank you form a parent and child after receiving their precious dvd.
Communication is the Key
Here is a little taster of what may lie ahead. Look at what the statistics tell us. Click on the image to make it clearer.
And now... half an hour later! Don't you love google apps! What has changed?
Our plays
Today in reading, Superb 7 got into our reading groups and did 4 plays. The 4 plays were Hilda Crosses the Road, What's Your Name, Taking notice and Bushwalk. Bushwalk was for Rata, Taking Notice was for Totara, What's Your Name was for Matai and Hilda Crosses the Road was for Pohutukawa. It was a fun way to do our reading and LOTS of us liked it.

Communication is the Key
On Friday I asked the children to take home some information. It was a verbal instruction. I wonder how many will remember?
If you are here looking at the blog, then maybe you have remembered!
You have 2 tasks
1. Fill in the Kids Questionaire-
2. Get someone at home to fill in the "At home Questionaire"
It will be fun to look at the results! I wonder what we will find out about our ability to manage ourselves when it comes to communicating information.

How far do you walk when you walk to school?
Could this be you?
I found this in the Movin' March info off the Feet First Site
Photo competition: Win a Dulux mural for your school!
A picture is worth a thousand words. And a picture is a great way to share an experience.
If your students or school are taking photos of your Movin’March you can enter the Wellington Region’s School Travel Plan programme photo competition!
It is easy! Just email your photo to sam.winslow@gw.govt.nz, or tell us where it is in the Movin’March Flickr collection and it will automatically be entered to win. Enter one for the school, one for each class or one for each child!
The winner of the photo competition will receive all the materials required to paint an active travel mural – it will tell your entire community that your school is both creative and a walking and cycling example for all to follow!
The competition panel will contact the winner by April 30th.

A Trip Into Wellington
Yesterday on March the 21st Superb 7 went on a trip into Wellington to see three art shows. Our first show was a comedic play called Grimace. Look at us in the audience!
The second show was about music and was directed by a man named Linsey Pollak from Australia. He showed quite a few instruments, but mostly made music and also made his own instruments. Linsey asked for a volunteer from the audience. Then he made music with them by recording simple sounds and playing them all at the same time. It sounded really interesting.
For the third show we went to The 52 messages - in the Civic Square. It was about people dancing, to show messages to save the world. Some people were writing their own messages on a "tree" made of cardboard.

Our awesome view pictures
Yesterday Superb7 and Great eights worked on a view picture of our bottom field. Today we are focusing on coloring and dying them. We are mixing colors to make it stand out and have a better effect. We used the layout guide but with less dots than before.

Contributing to our Community
We visited the Lower Hutt City Childcare Center on Friday. A new group of children taught some literacy skills. They helped the children make their names with play dough and sticks and then read them some stories. Fun for all.
